Futaba SBS-02G GPS Sensor
Reliable GPS sensor from Futaba for measuring; Altitude, Vario, Speed, Distance and Position.
Mounting the Sensor:
- Fix the GPS multi-sensor horizontally in the model using Velcro, make sure it is not in an airflow as the values can be influenced.
- Also make sure that the GPS signal can reach the sensor unimpeded, so that there are no magnetic, metals, carbon, or other conductive materials nearby. In addition, the status LED of the sensor must be visible to be able to see when the GPS sensor has established the connection to the satellites.
- Place the antenna of the receiver as straight as possible, in addition, the antenna should not run parallel to other cables, as this significantly reduces the radiation and thus the telemetry range.
Commissioning the GPS multi sensor:
- Plug the sensor into the S.BUS2 port of the receiver
- The receiver supplies the sensor with the required voltage and is used to transmit the sensor readings.
General:
- With this multi sensor, the height and vario measurement is performed by means of air pressure measurement. Changes in the weather cause pressure differences, which can cause the altitude display to deviate several meters during the flight.
- Speed and distance measurements as well as determination of position coordinates are performed via an integrated GPS sensor.
- The GPS multi sensor needs a total of 8 time slots to transmit all sensor data.
- After registering the sensor on the transmitter and configuring the vario display, the mode “ACT” can be selected under “Melody”.
The status LED in the sensor shows the following states:
- LED red: Voltage is present, but no sensor signals are being sent
- LED flashes green: Power is present, satellites are being searched.
- LED green: Satellites logged in, sensor signals are being sent.
Serial Number:
- This sensor is provided with a unique electronic serial number, under which it is registered with the system. There is a serial number label on the device and a second on the instructions.
- It is important to keep the serial number in a safe place for regeneration if necessary.
Comments:
- If there is a GPS sensor in the model, finding it in case of loss is quite easy, because the coordinates of the sensor/model are displayed in the transmitter. The position is easy to find on the PC or smartphone.
- The free APP GPS tour is available for smartphones, which displays the position and shows the way to the model..
- Distance measurement: The distance to the model is displayed as the crow flies.
- Speed measurement: The speed over the ground is measured, so the model if possible move the model horizontally over the ground
