Original LOSI front shock spring.
Technical details:
- Diameter: 32.5 mm
- Winding: 7
- Thickness: 2.8 mm
- Length: 115 mm
Explanation damper springs:
In the operation of damper springs are the combination of diameter, thickness wire and pitch, (read convolutions of interest), this combination with the good thickness oil, and number and size of the holes in the silencer pistons. With heavier springs, thicker oil must also be used, and vice versa.
The choice of a shock absorber spring is as follows:
A car must always "hang" in the springs, which means that when the car is lifted up, and then put down again, the springs and dampers are pressed slightly, this is important for both off- and on-road to maximum grip and roadholding. The amount of this depends on the surface, on-road this will usually be 1 to 2 cm, with off-road this can be up to 10 cm or more.
Spring action:
- At the same wire thickness: Less windings are harder, more windings softer.
- At the same number of turns: Thicker wire means harder, thinner wire softer.
- At a spring where the windings are with a variable distance, or the diameter varies, it becomes harder as it is pressed further, this is called Progressive.
